Craving and addiction are the right words.

These cravings are caused by various factors.

Your workout has drained some/all of the glycogen stored in your muscle. So, it’s normal that your bod sends out signals to replace this lost sugar. The easiest way to refill your muscles is with dietary sugar. And yet, someone on an Atkins type diet would be able to refill their muscles by converting stored fat and/or muscle mass to sugar.

Obviously, you’re not a low-carb guy and you DON’T want to be catabolizing muscle just to refill your sugar tanks. So, make sure you get a big dose of protein & carbs after your workout. You may also want to look at the new Biotest Workout drink. I just started testing it – very impressive – tons of energy and recovery from hard works has been way easier.

Another reasons for your cravings is the concept of sugar addiction that I outlined in Part 1.

It’s true that your body likes to use sugar as a source of energy. It doesn’t require much processing in the body – unlike fat.

However, your cells don’t prefer the sugar found in Cinnamon Toast Crunch over the sugar found in fresh vegetables. In fact, I think we would all agree that other than quickly absorbable sugar, there isn’t much nutrition to be found in any sugary cereal.

So, how come you’re craving your daughter’s cereal.

Addiction is the right word.

So, what would you suggest to an alcoholic trying to quit the bottle?

Cut back gradually or kick the habit?

(I hear they have a 12 step program for C.T.C addiction)

Illness has defined my life but it hasn’t been a negative thing(at least it doesn’t bring me down)I have made such good friends among health professionals, they all know my name and don’t have to call out my name, they just look at me. (with 100 people in the room I’m the one they know the best, and they can hardly pronounce my name) When people ask what’s wrong with me, I just give them the basic top 6 infirmities out of 31. The only one that really gets me down although i have several that will lead to death it just depends on which one gets me first which is probably my diabetes, although I really try to control it, diabetes is insidious in that when you have high blood sugar it does cumulative irreparable damage to some very sensitive places like your eyes which has tiny little capillaries, and your kidneys which have tiny little capillaries too,and your feet which have the same tiny etc. . . and the red blood cells which bring the oxygen to all the cells in the body when you have lots of glucose (sugar) molecules in your blood they start sticking to the red blood cells like “Frosted Flakes” which make them bigger and they get stuck in those tiny little capillaries (veins) and clog them up and the cells around them start to die, if it is in you eyes you slowly start to lose your sight, till one terrible day you are blind. If it’s in your kidneys then your kidney starts to malfunction and as you continue eating sugar or food that turns to sugar quickly like pasta or bread or cereal or potatoes etc. . . your kidney(s) start to die and you have to go on dialysis. if it is in your toes your toes start to die and gangrene begins to move through your feet and if they don’t catch it you won’t only lose a toe but your foot. I know a guy who noticed a little brown stain on his white sock when he pulled it off he went to the doctor when there was an opening, he knew he was diabetic and knew the danger of infection in the feet. he got in to see the doctor in three weeks and they scheduled him for surgery to amputate his foot in three days, one month later they amputated his leg from the knee down, then one month later they amputated his leg from the hip, then within one month more he was dead. 4 months after he saw a little stain he was dead. This is a terrible disease I used to think if it is going to kill me let it kill me I’m going to eat like I like. then i had a stroke an found out that it isn’t a pretty death and it isn’t quick, you die by inches. i love to read and i fear being blind and losing my books. so now I eat right and it’s a great diet i can almost eat anything i just have to accommodate and trade things around if i’m going to a birthday party then no rice or potatoes all day and low amounts of sweet fruits like grapes or mangoes but extras of good low carb veggies like green beans and any green leafy veggies and a small piece of cake with half the frosting scraped off. I load up on any nuts or seeds or dried unsweetened fruits like apricots or dried mangoes, served before dinner. so I have the diabetes under control it’s just that i have accumulated irreparable damage, but i can stop the damage from increasing but back to my point, the one thing that gets me down is my migraine, I used to say migraines, but now it’s one long migraine that has lasted for more than ten years. one time i fell while roller skating and broke ( shattered ) my left elbow the Dr later told me it looked like a crushed eggshell on the x ray and as soon as they saw my x ray they hurried in with a morphine shot the Dr. joked you probably feel pretty uncomfortable right now so we are going to give you something for the pain. i thought ” no i’m not feeling too bad this is nothing like a migraine” a migraine hurts about three times worse than shattering your elbow but now it is worse cause i have a blocked carrotid artery which are the two arteries that take blood to your brain, one of mine is completly closed because of high cholesteral and they can’t open it it is too dangerous so the only solution is a bypas taking half of the blood from the other side and running it through a tube under my jaw an connecting it above where the artery is clogged. I will do anything to be free from this torture. but i haven’t been able to find anyone to donate blood for me it doesn’t have to be my type thank god cause i am AB+ which is rare among white people and almost unknown among other races, but they can give me A+ or B+ which aren’t so rare, but there is a bigger hitch my soon to be divorced wife has decided (after talking to her sister the Doctor and her Pastor the Doctor and friends who are Doctors who all agree that this procedure is very dangerous and my wife is likely to have a veg. for a husband) to not sign the forms of consent for the operation which is mandatory or they won’t perform the surgery. So my options are limited and being naive and clueless as some our blog buddies described me, i have to get my divorce and marry a man who will sign for me, i have a new guy who is every thing my last guy wasn’t he writes me everyday and has loads of photos (with him in the photos in many beautiful places) on tagged.com and he visits my page every day to just look at me but not to be naive he probably is lying about that. so i turn my perception of a horrible life into something wonderful, all except the migraine and when it finally is gone it will be so wonderful that i won’t remember the pain and sorrow i will only be filled with joy.

Best bet is low fat, moderate protein, high carb- but low fiber. As simple as a quality cereal with skim milk and fruit is spot on
